Outside those hours, the Hervey Bay Medicare Urgent Care Clinic at 5/166 Boat Harbour Drive, Pialba is open 7 days, 8am to 8pm — walk in, no appointment needed. What is mole mapping, and how much does it cost?

Mole mapping at Main Street Medical Centre uses the OptimaScan 3D total body photography system to create a whole-body photographic record your GP compares over time. It costs $49 (launch price through 2026), then $99 from 1 January 2027 — a private fee, not Medicare-claimable, while the consultation itself is bulk billed for eligible Medicare holders. Learn more on our mole mapping page.

Do you perform skin cancer surgery at the practice?

Yes. Skin cancer excisions and biopsies are performed on site by our GPs in dedicated surgery rooms — see our skin cancer surgery page. These procedures carry a private fee. You receive an estimate beforehand, and payment is due once the Medicare item number is confirmed by histopathology, about three weeks after the procedure. Estimates are on our fees page.

How much does ear wax removal cost?

How much does an iron infusion cost?

An iron infusion costs $250 (private fee). The GP consultation to assess whether an infusion is right for you is bulk billed with a valid Medicare card.

Do you provide travel vaccines?

We prescribe and administer travel vaccines. Your GP assesses your itinerary and writes a prescription, you purchase the vaccine at a pharmacy, and our nursing team administers it at the practice.

Are female doctors available?

Yes. Male and female GPs consult at the practice — meet the team on our doctors page. You can choose your preferred doctor when booking online.

Do you see children?

Yes. Our GPs provide children's health care and childhood immunisations, and visiting paediatrician Dr Clever Banda consults at the practice (GP referral required; independent practice).

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring your Medicare or DVA card, a list of your current medications, and any recent test results or specialist letters. Arriving a few minutes early helps with your new patient form.
