Dr. Moe Thu is a highly experienced General Practitioner and RACGP Supervisor, committed to mentoring and training the next generation of GPs. With extensive expertise in General Practice, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Dermatology, and Skin Cancer Medicine, he delivers comprehensive and patient-focused care. Dr. Thu’s diverse training allows him to manage a wide range of medical conditions with precision and compassion.

Special Interests

  • Skin Cancer Medicine & Surgery: Expertise in early detection, treatment, and advanced surgical techniques, including sebaceous cyst and lipoma excision.
  • Chronic Disease Management: Providing tailored care for patients with diabetes, heart disease, and respiratory conditions.
  • Diabetic Management: Comprehensive prevention, treatment, and long-term diabetic care.
  • Children’s Health: Offering compassionate and preventive pediatric care.
  • Surgical Procedures: Skilled in minor skin procedures, including wedge excision of ingrown toenails.

Dr. Thu has completed specialized training, including:

  • Advanced Skin Surgery Workshop

Currently, Dr. Thu is pursuing an advanced course to become a Skin Cancer College-recognized Skin Cancer Doctor.

Experience & Background

  • Myanmar: Worked as a General Practitioner for nearly four years.
  • Jamaica: Specialized in surgery and casualty services, gaining hands-on experience in excisions and wound management over five years.
  • Australia: Migrated to Tasmania in 2016, earned his Australian Medical Council (AMC) Certificate, and completed hospital rotations before settling in Hervey Bay for GP training and FRACGP fellowship.

Commitment to Teaching & Training

As an RACGP Supervisor, Dr. Thu plays an essential role in mentoring GP registrars. His guidance and clinical expertise ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare while shaping the future of General Practice.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, Dr. Thu enjoys spending time with his young son and unwinding with movies, balancing his professional dedication with family life.
