Billing & Fees at Main Street Medical Centre
At Main Street Medical Centre & Skin Clinic, we are a mixed billing practice. This means that while some patients may incur a private fee, we also provide bulk billing for eligible patients. If you're looking for a Hervey Bay bulk billing doctor, our clinic offers bulk billing services for specific patient groups.
Who is Eligible for Bulk Billing?
- ✔ Children under 16 years of age – Bulk billed for all standard consultations.
- ✔ Gold DVA Card Holders – Bulk billed for all consultations.
- ✔ White DVA Card Holders – Bulk billed for consultations related to the covered condition.
- ✔ Centrelink Pension Card Holders – Eligible for bulk billing.
- ✔ Centrelink Health Care Card Holders – Eligible for bulk billing.
Consultation Fees
- ✔ Standard Consultation Fee: $89 (for patients without a Pension or Health Care Card).
- ✔ Extended or Complex Consultations: Fees may vary depending on the length and nature of your consultation.
Payment Policy
- ✔ Payment is required on the day of consultation.
- ✔ We accept credit card, EFTPOS, and cash payments.
- ✔ Medicare rebates can be processed at the time of payment if eligible.

Our consultations are classified based on complexity, duration, and required medical assessment, ensuring transparent billing.

- ✔ Minor Service (Level A): A brief consultation for a straightforward issue, requiring only a short patient history and limited examination.
- ✔ Specific Service (Level B): A standard consultation where the doctor conducts a focused assessment, history, and examination to manage a health concern.
- ✔ Extended Service (Level C): A detailed consultation for more complex conditions or multiple issues, requiring a thorough history, examination, possible investigations, and management plan.
- ✔ Comprehensive Service (Level D): A comprehensive consultation involving an in-depth history, examination of multiple body systems, and the arrangement of complex investigations to determine the most appropriate treatment.
Telehealth & Telephone Consultations
- ✔ Eligibility Requirements: Patients must have an established care history with our practice, meaning they must have attended an in-person appointment within the last 12 months to meet Medicare eligibility criteria for telehealth.
- ✔ Convenient Access: If you meet the eligibility criteria, telehealth consultations provide an accessible and efficient option for managing ongoing health needs.
