Our highly experienced GPs have a special interest in skin cancer and have undergone post-graduate training in this field. They examine
hundreds of moles every week, detecting melanomas at the earliest stages, when they are still curable. At Main Street Medical Centre & Skin Clinic,
we provide affordable, high-quality skin cancer consults.

Signs & Symptoms to Watch For
Regular self-examinations can save lives. Use the ABCDE Rule to assess any moles or skin changes:
A – Asymmetry: One half of the mole does not match the other.
B – Border: Irregular, blurred, or jagged edges.
C – Colour: Uneven shades of black, brown, red, or white.
D – Diameter: Spots larger than 6mm or that are growing in size.
E – Evolution: Noticeable changes in size, shape, or color over time.
If you notice any of these signs, schedule a skin check without delay.
What to Expect During Your Skin Check
Full Skin Examination: Your doctor will thoroughly assess your skin using a dermatoscope to identify abnormal moles, freckles, or lesions.
Discussion of Findings: Any suspicious spots will be examined further, with potential treatment or biopsy options discussed.
Chaperone Option: A Registered Nurse can attend your appointment if desired.
Treatment Options for Skin Cancer
If a suspicious lesion is identified, we offer a range of treatment options:
Surgical Excision: Removing cancerous tissue with clear margins under local anesthesia.
Curettage & Cautery: Scraping away abnormal cells, followed by cauterization.
Cryotherapy: Freezing abnormal tissue with liquid nitrogen to destroy it.
Topical Treatments: Prescription creams for early-stage skin cancers or pre-cancerous lesions.
